Myrkur is the project of Danish musician Amalie Bruun, known for blending black metal, Scandinavian folk, and deeply personal themes into a genre-defying sound. Across three albums, two EPs, and a theatrical score, she has reshaped musical boundaries, from the blackened emotional weight of M and Mareridt to the folk-rooted Folkesange. Her 2023 album Spine, recorded in Iceland with producer Randall Dunn, marks a rebirth following the birth of her child. Combining vulnerability and strength, the album explores motherhood, human connection, and disconnection in a changing world—melding haunting vocals, metal riffs, and ethereal textures into her most expansive work yet.
